Ice roses in the grotto of Lourdes. Incredible, but there they are!
This picture was taken from up near Saint Michael’s Chapel looking down toward the grotto. They put salt out, but that only made the snow turn into thick ice. That grey bit by the grotto isn’t the pavement. It’s ice!
Here’s the grotto. The vines just around the statue are protected from the snow by the overhanging cliff. The rose bushes are not. And they are rose bushes, not cotton plants! That’s ice and snow.
