Ice roses in the grotto of Lourdes. Incredible, but there they are!
This picture was taken from up near Saint Michael’s Chapel looking down toward the grotto. They put salt out, but that only made the snow turn into thick ice. That grey bit by the grotto isn’t the pavement. It’s ice!
Here’s the grotto. The vines just around the statue are protected from the snow by the overhanging cliff. The rose bushes are not. And they are rose bushes, not cotton plants! That’s ice and snow.

For the last one, offering Holy Communion for the Holy Father is a significant spiritual work of mercy, as is teaching catechism, Legion of Mary apostolate, etc. Thus: The corporal works of mercy. Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the imprisoned, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, bury the dead. The spiritual works of mercy. Admonish the sinner, instruct the ignorant, counsel the doubtful, comfort the sorrowful, bear wrongs patiently, forgive all injuries, pray for the living and the dead.
